Very Sad News

It is with great sadness that two of our esteemed scholars and friends of EIASM passed away in recent days,

Professor Barbara Czarniawska and Professor Irvine Lapsley.

Barbara

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a cherished colleague and friend, Prof. Barbara Czarniawska. Her indelible mark on the field of management research and her unwavering commitment to our academic community have left an enduring legacy that will be felt for years to come. Barabara Czarniawska, Professor at the University of Gothenburg, was the recipient of the first EIASM Interdisciplinary Leader Award in 2017 for her exemplary contributions to interdisciplinary research. We express our condolences to her family, friends and loved ones.

Irvine

It is with great sadness that our dear colleague and friend, Prof. Irvine Lapsley, has passed away. His accomplishments and contributions to the management research community are immense. Irvine Lapsley, Professor at the University of Edinburgh, has been dedicated to the development of several EIASM events, among which the EIASM workshop on Management of Nonprofit Organizations and the EIASM Public Sector and Third sector workshops, which he led with passion and generosity to early career scholars. His kindness and passion for research, and engagement in our academic community have been truly inspirational to several generations of public sector accounting and management scholars. We express our condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.

We join as a community of friends at this very sad time in loving memory of Barbara and Irvine.
